After 5 years of serving me well I have decided to upgrade my desktop. Been spending the last 2 weeks researching on what to get and on Saturday got everything from Digital Mall. Roughly midday yesterday I manage to get it up and running without any issues. Phew.

Notice the red lining of the casing, I chose that for the Red Devil in me! Now am enjoying S.T.A.L.K.E.R, DiRT and Test Drive Unlimited. Been awhile since I played any PC games as my older rig was too damn slow. Damn missed out on quite a bit. :D

a step closer...

The boys are a step closer towards getting the EPL title this year after the Arsenal game at Old Trafford barely a few hours ago. Gotta admit it was a poor showing by the Red Devils but they pulled through. Gunners controlled the game but fortunately they were firing blanks. Great saves from both Van Der Sar and Lehmann.

The spotlight of the night has to be Hargreaves wonderful free kick. Nicely taken and spot on! Not much to add as I wasn't too happy with how we played but am happy we got the 3 points. Now its down to Chelsea to keep the pressure. ;)

Tony Roma's has been in Malaysia for about a year now. Its a popular American chain who are famous for their flame grilled pork ribs. Unfortunately we won't be able to try em' as they decided to go halal when they opened up shop here. You can however get your hands on some beef ribs which I hear is just as yummy!

I have passed this outlet in Cineleisure Damansara tons of times but it never really tickled my fancy. Finally last week while roaming about Ikano, the Curve & Cineleisure looking for lunch, Razman and I decided to give this place a try.

As it was lunch both of us didn't really want anything heavy. So we decided on some burgers. Before we ordered we were served complimentary bread with garlic butter on the side. Real yummy stuff. Sadly didn't manage to take any pics. Sorry la was too damn hungry! ;)

After deliberating I settled for the Shiitake Mushroom Burger (RM22.90). As expected in these sorta places, the portion was huge. Even wondered how the hell I was gonna fit all that in my mouth. LOL. Loved the wonderful aroma of freshly grilled beef patty, melted swiss cheese and mushrooms. The burger came just as I ordered it, medium well. Unfortunately though I wasn't happy with the meal. The burger did taste good but the patty seemed to have some hard bits which kinda put a damper on things. On a plus note though the fries were cooked just right and were sinfully yummy.

Razman was too lazy to decide so he just went with the Roma Burger (RM20.90) which is their take on the classic. Didn't hear any complaints except that he asked for medium rare but got medium well instead. Forgot to ask him if he has the hard bits as well. He did leave a happy camper so maybe not.

Guess at the end of the day, don't think I would come here for burgers. Would rather plonk that kinda money in Chillis or Burger King for that matter. Not sure about other stuff though and don't mind coming back for dinner one day. will definately blog about if I do. :D

I shouldn't be counting my chickens before they hatch but I think the Red Devils are heading for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. Woo Hoo!

A stunning & bold header by Ronaldo and a nice tap in by Rooney from a great Park Ji-Sung cross and we are 2 up in the 1st leg. The next leg is in Old Trafford so am sure the boys will be able to hold the fort. Sadly though Vidic received a knock. Hope its nothing serious and he'll be back.

Gotta admit I was curious on why Park was put in but damn was I proven wrong. He was all over the place and worked his socks off especially the nice head in from the far post for Rooney. Also great performances from the back four especially Rio Ferdinand.

Kudos boys and keep this up. Can't wait for the game against Boro. :D

now what?!

Errm this is gonna sound stupid funny. Its been almost 2 years since I sold off my piano black Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) due to financial reasons. Soon after that I invested in a Nintendo DS Lite and never looked back. I have been playing with it over and over. It accompanies me when I travel, when I visit the throne or whenever I got time to kill.

Recently however I started researching about Sony PSP and how far it has come. Some of you might be aware that Sony released a slimmer and lighter version called Sony PSP Slim & Lite. It does have a few upgrades like video-out function, faster load times, nicer colors as well as a handful of firmware based upgrades like Skype, GPS and camera add on capabilities. On top of that they are packed with games that I wished I played on PS2 but didn't have the time.

With that I started getting itchy again especially after selling off my PS2 on Thursday and so this afternoon I headed down to Gamers Solution at City Bazaar, KL and got my hands on a brand new Felicia Blue (Blume Series) Sony PSP Slim. :D


Damn the games are awesome! I know I know. You guys would be wondering what next?! LOL. G'nite folks.

LOL. You guys ain't gonna believe this. I just sold off my Sony PS2 which I was ranting about just barely 3 months ago. Just like before I didn't have the time to play it. All I managed in 3 months were a meagre 4 times! :(

Throughout last week there were talk about how Gerrard and Torres were gonna show the Red Devils a thing or two. Sadly though it was our boys who showed the Kop how football is played.

We were all over the place. Great performances from the whole team. There should have been more goals (as usual) but am happy with the 3 goal drubbing. Of the 3, was really impressed by Nani's goal. He created space for himself and blasted in a nice shot. Reina was left dumbfounded. ROTFLOL.

Now we are 5 points clear on top. Hope the boys can keep this tempo up for the remainder of the season. Practically every game is crucial with Chelsea hot on our heels. Kudos guys and thanks for putting a BIG SMILE on my face. :D

I'm a fan of all things pork. So when I read about this place that serves lovely char siew (barbequed pork) so near my home, I couldn't help but get my butt over there to give it a try.

One afternoon, Sunshine and I took a drive to Sunway Mas in search of this place. Luckily being rather familiar with the area, I found Restoran Famous Seremban Favourites without much fuss. Would advise most to study the map below before heading out to this place as to not get disappointed.

As expected the first thing on my mind was to get some juicy char siew. Ordered us a medium plate (RM10) of lean meat and waited patiently for it to arrive. Within' moments it came with the sauce on the side, which is a good thing as at times the sauce can be very overpowering. At least this way we can control it to our liking.

The verdict? Well I thought the char siew was heavenly but Sunshine thought otherwise. She prefers it to be lean and tough while I loved how 'melt in your mouth' it was. I would have to agree with most floggers that this would be the best char siew in town, for me at least. We were there rather late (3pm) so no siew yoke (roast pork) for me to savour, which I heard is just as good. Guess its reason to drop by again soon huh! Hehe.

For my main meal I decided to try their Hakka Mee (RM3). A very simple noodle dish with colorless gravy and minced meat. It may look dull but never trust a book by its cover. The broad noodles as well as the seasoned minced pork works well together and topped with pickled green chilis is a definate winner!

Sunshine wasn't keen on most of the noodles on offer so she settled with the safe bet of Wantan Mee (RM3). Sadly though it must have been the worst wantan mee we've had in a long time. I would definately advise you guys to stay away from it. The noodles wasn't springy and the sauce was bleh. It was so bad Sunshine barely ate half of it. :(

All in all it apart from the wantan mee, this place looks promising. Wide variety of food as well as heavenly char siew. Would definately visit again least for the yummy porky goodness. For more reviews on this place you can check out the floggers below.

Finally the Red Devils are back where they belong. Sadly only after a tiring match against stubborn Derby County. Would have been nicer if we slotted in more goals but I'll take the win anyways. Great to see Arsenal drawing against Middlesbrough and giving us the lead with 1 game in hand. As long as we whoop Bolton on Wednesday we should be happy campers up top. :D

Ben Foster had a great debut providing some crucial saves. Hope he gets more play and will soon be ready to fill in the Number 1 spot. Would pick him over Tomasz Kuszczak any day. Hope Fergie doesn't sell or loan him off next season.

Starting to get worried at how the boys are playing. Tonnes of chances but not many goals. Not getting a striker in January seems to be haunting us. If only Saha won't get injured all the time. He can't even step out on the field without hurting himself. Sigh.

They have to get their act together especially with the draw against Roma for the Champions League quaterfinals. Am sure they are dying to revenge the 7 - 1 drubbing last season. Only time will tell I guess.

As promised pictures of my tank below. Just added 4 Cherry Barbs yesterday bringing the total to 7. Happy to see all of em' swimming about.

While they were chowing down I manage to count my shrimps and got a total of 24. Not bad considering I had 12 to start with. Looks like many of the shrimplets survived. :D


Think I gotta add more plants. Not really sure what type though. At times also afraid as plants need a lot of care. Only ones I can consider are hardy ones which don't need CO2 or fertilisers. Gotta research more I guess. Time to head to work. Adios.

Damn another surprise. This seems to be getting better and better as the hours go by. The Opposition has managed to stop Barisan Nasional from getting a 2/3 majority at the Parliament. The people have finally spoken and a new change is on the horizon.

What a sad night. The Red Devils were kicked out of the FA Cup by Pompey. There goes the dream of repeating the treble. The boys controlled majority of the game but sadly it just wasn't their day. To top it off the referee, Martin Atkinson made some terrible calls and seemed to have sided Portsmouth which gave them an undeserved win.

Anyways at the end of the day, that is how the game is played and a loss is still a loss. Now all the boys can do is pick themselves up and concentrate on the double, EPL and UEFA Champions League. On a side note it was great to see Barnsley perform an historic win over Chelsea. The FA Cup is truly a cup of dreams where lower division teams get to rise above the occasion. Till next time.

tough fight...

Phew. After one hellave struggle we are into the quater-finals of the Champions League. Many thought it would be a walk in the park for the Red Devils playing at home but Lyon put up a great fight especially in the 2nd half.

Lots of tense moments towards the end of the game especially with United giving the ball away too often and at times caught back peddling. The boys just wasn't themselves. Very thankful for the wonderful goal by Ronaldo. Great shot from a tight angle.

On a side note, kudos to Arsenal for a wonderful performance against AC Milan in San Siro. I was sure they would be knocked out by the European kings but the youngsters of Arsenal really proved everyone wrong.

Now its time for the quarter-finals. Wouldn't be surprised we get paired with a Premiership team. No matter who it is, bring it on! :D

As all of you are aware its time for Malaysia's 12th General Election. This particular round am sure majority of Malaysians are gonna stand up and decide on our country's future. Especially the younger generation who is fed up with the current state of our beloved nation.

To be honest my procrastination got the better of me. I failed to register in time and so won't be eligible to vote this year. As it gets closer to 8th of March 2008, I'm getting more and more pissed as my laziness has prevented me from voting for a change. My wish is that Barisan won't get a 2/3 majority.

I hope come this Saturday, those of you who are eligible would head down and put in your votes. Not really concerned on who you vote for but please think wisely before choosing any candidate. Make it count.

Damn it was so freaking close! United were on their way to the top of the league before Bendtner struck in a crucial last second goal. Arrrggh. Lucky Gunners.

On a plus note least we walked away from Craven Cottage with 3 points and a clean sheet. Good to see Hargreaves and Park Ji-Sung on the score sheet.

Fergie also managed to rest some stars. Least they'll be fired up for the 2nd leg game against Lyon on Tuesday. That should be a very hot match especially when both sides have their eyes on the Champions League trophy this year. Keep up the good work boys.

Boy its been a long time since I last updated you guys on my beloved aquarium. My plan to add a driftwood was scraped and haven't really done much esthetically.

Sadly in December I lost quite a handful of the fishies and now am only left with 4 Ember Tetras, 1 lone Boraras Maculatus and 1 Cherry Barb who is from my pioneer batch and still going strong. :D

I did however add a 2 more Cherry Barbs as I found the micro fish rather dull and inactive. This could be due to lack of vegetation in my tank. Am planning to add 3 more Barbs as they are a joy to watch.

On a plus note the shrimps are all alive and kicking. Think they have given birth a handful of times although not many survivors. This due to being eaten or sucked into the filter system. :(

Will try to take some pics and update one of these days. Thats all for now. Adios!

What a sad outcome it must have been for Kevin Keegan. He hoped to repeat what City did to the Red Devils 2 weeks back but unfortunately got himself deeper into relegation territory.

The boys obliterated the Magpies 1 - 5 at St. James Park. A double from Rooney, another double from Ronaldo and a bonus from Saha.

The Toons came into the game wanting to revenge the thrashing (6 - 0) in January at Old Trafford but somehow just couldn't up their games. They did have some good moments but not enuff to make a dent. Poor Keegan is left looking for his first win since taking in the reigns 6 games ago.

Hopefully he will be given the time to bring Newcastle back from the grave. Kudos again for the boys and a wonderful win and thank you Birmingham for holding Arsenal to a draw. Next up the Cottagers! :D

On a side note, would like to wish Eduardo da Silva from Arsenal, who suffered a potential career damaging injury from a bad tackle a speedy recovery. Good news is he is expected back in the game by end of this year. Wish him all the best and hope to see him back to scoring goals.

Have always felt that the Red Devils have a knack for coming back in the last dying moments. It happens quite often especially on high profile games and boy is it such a freaking thrill to watch!

This morning MU went up against Lyon at Stade de Gerland for their 1st leg Champions League match. It was an intense game as both sides were holding their ground. The boys were controlling most of the match but finding it hard to get past Lyon's defense which was rock solid.

Sadly in the 2nd half Karim Benzema scored a goal with a marvellous piece of solo effort. Boy does this kid have the skills. Hes only 20 years old but what a presence on the field. He definately gave Ferdinand and Vidic a run for their money. Damn I really hope we manage to get him come summer. Would definately be a sweet addition to the team.

After that strike I was getting worried as Lyon was holding fort really well. Coupet had quite a few amazing saves and the defense was all over Rooney and Ronaldo. Fortunately on the 65th minute Fergie made 2 perfect substitutions, Tevez and Nani and what a difference it made. It opened up our offense and created more chances. Before you know it on the 87th minute Tevez slotted one in from a pass by Nani. I was jumping off my couch I tell ya.

Now I can't wait for the 2nd leg in Old Trafford. It will be one hellave game. I wouldn't say the boys have it easy cos Lyon is quite a powerhouse but am sure Fergie will go all out blazing. Kudos on the draw boys! :D

Think most of you would be familiar with Old Town White Coffee cafes. This modern kopitiam chain which has branches (77 as of 16th January 2008) all over Malaysia has been around for quite awhile now. Being a fan of Ipoh Old Town White Coffee for years, I couldn't help but try this place out when they opened up near my office. :D

As expected the highlight of this place has definately gotta be their COFFEE. From their infamous White Coffee to Hazelnut White Coffee to Nanyang Memorably, which is their take on Cappuccino I think. Love the frothy top and thick coffee flavour. Do give the Hazelnut variety a try as its really good. You can taste then nice nutty flavour on top of the smooth coffee. Yummy!

One surprise I had from Old Town cafe is their teas. I didn't think it would amount to much but one sip and I was hooked. Their White Milk Tea is quite similar to Hong Kong's Nai Cha whereby its very creamy. They also have something called Xi Mut Milk Tea which is suppose to be silky smooth, will have to give that a try one of these days. ;)

When it comes to food, Old Town does have a wide array of choices. From toasts to rice to noodles. Sadly though only their bread related stuff are nice, everything else isn't worth a try unless you are REALLY hungry. Hehe.

I have tried all the types of toasts on offer and none of them disappoint. From the heavenly French Toast to their scrumptious Thick Toast (plain, kaya or peanut butter) to their light and crispy Kaya Toast. If you want something heavier you can also give their Tuna Toast a try which is really yummy.

Now Old Town White Coffee has opened another branch near my office at Jaya One. How am I to avoid them? LOL. Both of these outlets have become a regular haunt for Sunshine and I. Even the boys love hanging out there every now and then especially when the craving for a cuppa arises. :D

Did any of you catch the game on Saturday? If you didn't then you missed out on one hellave cracker. Reeling from the derby defeat last week to Manchester City, the Red Devils rose to the occasion and tore Arsenal a new one (4 - NIL)!

Told you the boys are gonna bring it to the Gunners. Best part was the stars of the day were our fringe players, Fletcher and Nani. Always did love Cup games as the fringe players get to start and usually end up shining one way or another. If only we were still contending for the League Cup.

Nani was all over the place. Not only did he score goal number 3 but he assisted on the other 3 goals as well. A real impressive display especially after the derby loss last week. Hope he gets to start more often from now. Only downside was the showboating incident which was unsportsmanlike although I did enjoy it. Hehe.

I have to admit I don't fancy Darren Fletcher much and was dissappointed when he started but boy did he prove me wrong. Like Nani he was everywhere and he was even close to scoring a freaking hatrick. Hope he gets more chances as he has been very loyal to the Red Devils.

Besides them the other stars would have to be Anderson, Carrick and Rooney. Sadly Rooney was denied a few more goals but guess you can't have it all. Carrick was really impressive with his deft passing. I think we have found our new deputy in the center and it has to be Anderson. They boy dominated the midfield. So young yet no one could get past him. Real force to reckon with.

It was a real joy to see the Devils play on Saturday. Hope they will keep this up and take the League back. I believe the Treble is definately attainable this season as long as we avoid anymore injuries.

Happy Valentine's Day Sunshine!

sad loss...

Sigh. What a disappointing game! After 34 years, Manchester City has finally beaten the Red Devils at Old Trafford. To top that, after 38 years they have completed a league double. Sigh.

The match started with a memorial for the Busby Babes, who lost their lives 50 years ago in the Munich air disaster. Thank you to the City fans for respecting the emotional 1 minute silence. It was nice to see both teams in jerseys devoid of sponsors' logos. The Red Devils even had the same jersey won by the Busby Babes numbered 1 to 16. Wouldn't mind having one of em' for my collection. :D

Once the game got going, the Red Devils were all out attacking. City then hit back and on the 25th minute found the back of the net. United tried to level things but never got anything solid. Sadly just a minute before the break, the Blues were up by 2 from a header by Benjani. On his freaking debut of all times. Arrrgghh.

Come 2nd half City were happy to just defend and hold the ball. The Red Devils tried to come back but somehow they never really shined. It was just a BAD day. In my opinion one of the poorest performances by United on home ground. Felt Fergie should have put Danny Welbeck on the squad and maybe bring him on towards the end. Then again he might have his reasons.

Oh well, all is not lost. We still have more games to look forward to. Hope Arsenal drop some points tonight against Blackburn. We'll definately bring it this Saturday for the FA Cup match against Arsenal. Am sure the boys will get a good drilling from Fergie till then.

home sweet home...

Am back. After 8 nights and 9 days of travelling from Macau to Hong Kong to Shenzhen to Guangzhou to Zhuhai and then back to Macau to head home. Phew. It was a pretty tiring trip. Lots of walking about as well as sitting in the van.

All I can say for now is that am glad to be back. Am too tired to blog about it yet. Will do so once I've downloaded the pics from my camera. Took about 380 odd. Lots to skim through. Hehe.

Ahh am off on a vacation. Tomorrow around 3ish I'll be on Air Asia flight AK52 to Macau. Gonna spend 9 days and 8 nights roaming from Macau to Hong Kong then to China and back to Macau for the flight home.

Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks is a popular food chain from Singapore that focuses on famous Taiwan night market snacks. Their first branch in Malaysia was opened about 2 years ago at the Old Wing of 1 Utama Shopping Center. Same floor and close by to Tanjung Golden Village cinema.

Been meaning to try this place ever since they opened but always hesitated as most of the time the place is packed and there is very limited seating. Its just a tiny kiosk type establishment where the kitchen takes up most of the place. Finally got a chance when I passed the place around 2ish pm on a Friday. It was empty (although before I knew it got filled up, LOL)!

Their menu is simple whereby you have 4 items to choose from and 2 drinks (bottled water & soy bean milk). Prices for all the 4 are same which is RM5.50. The choices are XXL Crispy Chicken, Seafood Tempura, Crispy Floss Egg Crepe and Handmade Oyster Mee Sua.

The Handmade Oyster Mee Sua is a definate must have! Best to be eaten right away piping hot. It is served in a thick flavorful broth, nicely cut strands of mee sua, shredded chicken and 2 plump (and fresh!) oysters. You can choose to have it with or without chili but I highly recommend having it with chili. The chili sambal adds a good kick to the whole ensemble.

Another top draw has to be the XXL Crispy Chicken. This is similar to what Uncle Bob offers in most pasar malams. Tender deep fried chicken sprinkled with 2 types of powder, 5 spices and chili I think. Don't eat it right out of the deep fryer though as its freaking hot! If only they would cut it up for you as it would make it much easier to munch on.

All and all a great place for a quick bite. Price wise I would say pretty reasonable considering whats on offer in 1 Utama. If only they would expand with more seating. Am definately returning to try their Crispy Floss Egg Crepe. :D

2008 resolutions...

Surprisingly this year am not really into having resolutions. Haven't put any thought to it but just for the sake of it I have decided on the few below. Some of which seem to be a life long resolution. Hehe.

1. Lose weight (85kgs is too much, gotta knock of at least 5kgs!).
2. Buy a house (I freakin' better get a house this year!).
3. Progress in my career (looking for more challenges & money of course).
4. Work on Kate (am thinking of going turbo).
5. Go overseas with Sunshine (maybe Bali or Gold Coast).

This particular joint is a regular dinner haunt for Sunshine and I. Firstly its located very near office and lastly how can we resist some fresh healthy yong tau foo (YTF)! Restoran 3A Yong Tau Foo & Chee Cheong Fun has been around for ages. Can't recall how long but I still remember eating there almost 12 odd years ago. Unless of course it was a different YTF place then.

Its located just after Rothmans Roundabout, Section 19. Very easy to spot as its next to Restoran Green View, who is famous for their Sang Har Meen. Their menu range from all sorts of yong tau foo (fried or boiled) goodies, chee cheong fun (black sauce or curry), some noodles, veggy/meat/seafood dishes and chinese desserts.

The must have condiments for yong tau foo. Their pickled green chilis are really addictive. Sunshine can't stop eating it till she got a tummy ache one day from the overdose of vinegar. Hehe.

First up is always their Chee Cheong Fun (RM2.20). Smooth in texture and comes in a sizeable portion is very yummy indeed. Love the generous topping of deep fried onions, dried shrimp bits and sesame seeds. Gives the dish an extra ooomph. Both the black (slightly sweetish) and curry (not too spicy and flavorful) sauces are just as good.

All of their yong tau foo choices are fresh and tasty. They only cost RM0.80 per piece which is pretty reasonable. The best fried stuff to order would be their Sui Kow, Foo Chuk and Wantan. The items come to your table freshly fried unlike some places that have it sitting outside for ages.

The best boiled stuff would be their Japanese Taufoo, Okra, Brinjal (slightly grilled) and White Taufoo. Love how silky smooth both the taufoo varieties are. Their soup is flavorful but I tend not to have too much of it. Not too sure if they use MSG or not.

If you are not up for yong tau foo, you can always opt for their cooked dishes which are pretty good as well. The Asam Pedas Squid, Fish or Sting Ray are really nice. Priced reasonably at RM8, RM10 or RM12 depending on portion. They also have nice Honey Fried Chicken and Homemade Taufoo.

To wash all of the food down, don't forget to try their homemade Soybean (RM1.70) drink. Especially piping hot during a rainy day. Very refreshing. Their Cincau (RM1.70) and Sour Lemon drink isn't all that bad either.

I would rate this as the best yong tau foo restaurant in Petaling Jaya. Service is good and fast plus their food always fresh and consistant. Give them a try one of these days and you won't be disappointed! :D

Time seems to just fly by nowadays. Just realised its 2 years today since Appa left us. Wonder whats he up to wherever he is.

Most probably chillin' with his pipe, sipping on some Red Label whisky and watching the world go by. :D
