annual dinner...

Finally after 3 fucking years I got to attend my company's annual dinner. It wasn't much to shout about but with the right company we manage to make it good for ourselves. Guess its also due to the free flow of beers. Hehe. It felt like a Chinese wedding dinner as most of the time we just went around yum seng 'ing like there was no tommorrow. It was trips between the tables to the bar. Till of course they decided to stop serving beers. Hehe. I think our tables practically ran the tap dry. Dammit it should be free flow all night. After all it was our 35th Anniversary right?!

After dinner we proceeded to this club called Rain which is behind Burger King and Projet in Sri Hartamas. Part of Modestos. It was empty but before you know it we had it filled up. It was great to have the club all to ourselves. By the end of the night we were all sloshed. Most of us can't even recall what happened. I did something I never do, even I can't believe it. I danced! LOL. Sadly I can't remember most of it but from the looks of it, I was pretty impressive. Hehe. Think something must have come over me.

Boy it sure was a good night although sadly I can't remember bits and pieces of it. Been awhile since we had such a good time. Gotta get together with the mates more often. Although I could do without the morning hangover. LOL. Thankfully no vomitting fits just an upset tummy. Phew...

go shorty, its my birthday...

My 27th birthday is today and a few mates of mine got together on Saturday to have a lil' celebration. We started out with dinner at Chilis in KLCC. Just a small gathering, about 6 of us. Food was the usual. My favourite Fajitas. Yummy. The surprise of the day was a Almond Brittle cheesecake baked by my lovely colleagues. Their first effort in baking and it was SERIOUSLY GOOD. Super duper rich and tasty. It cost them RM138!! Can you imagine? Thats like 2 Secret Recipe cakes la. Found out it was because they used really good ingredients. I'm touched and really grateful. Best part of the cake was the top. Its actually one whole bar of melted Lindt swiss chocolate. Ooooh. So orgasmic I tell ya. =)

After the scrumptious dinner, we adjourned to Bar Savannah located along Heritage Row in KL. There we met up with another group of fellas. Got a nice couch facing a plasma screen. Y'all should know why that is. Portugal was playing England. World Cup quaterfinals. Can't miss that can we. Bless us all cos Portugal won! Woo Hoo. Screw England! Muahahahaha. It was a pretty decent game. Well at least the environment and excitement made it great. Once the game ended, all hell broke lose. Two bottles of Chivas were emptied by then. Someone bought me 2 flaming lamborghinis after that. And then another bottle of Chivas was opened, and finished. I barely remember anything since then. I knew one part which I ranted below. I knew I vomited out of my mates car. Three times! LOL. Poor fella. He spent about 30 minutes outside my house washing up. Thankfully I was sober enuff to open the windows and project it outside. Hehe. Sorry dude. Really feel bad about it. =(

All in all it was a pretty fulfilling night. Good food and drinks and great fun with my mates. Its been awhile. Especially getting drunk. Haven't done that in a loooooooong time. I'm not saying I should but its ok to release once in awhile. Isn't it not? Hehe...

remy's engagement...

Last weekend was one of the best times I've had in awhile. Its been ages since a group of us pilled up in a car and headed somewhere for a road trip. So when Remy's engagement came up, we all hopped on for the trip. Two cars went down on Friday, Dev's electric kelisa and my chubby baby with a total of 7 of us. The drive down was pretty quiet as there wasn't much traffic on the road. We maintained a speed of about 120kph and reached within 4 hours or so. Remy made arrangement for our housing and what a great choice it was. Its this place called The Zon which is on the channel between Johor and Singapore and somehow just that lil spot is considered duty free. Can imagine you imagine?? All the chocolates and liquor are duty free in that hotel! Sadly its not like Tioman or Langkawi where you can take out 1 liter if you stay overnight, unless of course you try to smuggle em' out.

Once we reached about 5pm we got ourselves cleaned up and headed downstairs to the lounge area. It was still Happy Hours (HH) till 8pm and we didn't have to go anywhere till about 9pm for Remy's birthday party. We got a shock when we checked out the pricing. One pint of draught Guiness Stout is only RM10 and you get another free during HH. A jug of draught Tiger is only RM33 with another free as well. OMFG! Can you imagine?! Its like we died and gone to heaven. I had about 2 and half pints before it was time to bounce. At the party was another shocker, there were like 3 bottles of Chivas waiting to be consumed. I really felt like I was in Wonderland. The drinks just kept coming and coming. On top of that we had some nice tidbits to take it all down with. Some deep fried pork and chicken nuggets plus deep fried taufoo. What a great combination. The night ended around 3am, which we sneaked out as we gotta be up by 9ish for Remy's engagement ceremony.

The next morning we got up around 10ish and rushed to the ceremony in a nearby Gurdwara. It was the first time for me stepping into one plus also the first time we got to see Remy actually wearing a turban. Not a bad sight I must add. It was an interesting experience. After the ceremony ended, we left for the hotel. Sadly I should have stayed because I could have tasted some good chappati and dhal. Sigh. Maybe next time. At the hotel, some of us took the oppurtunity to catch some winks before the night ceremony while the other half went down to the lobby to continue on their liquid diet. I couldn't join em because whatever I took kept coming out. Must have been all that liquid gold from the night before. Wasted because it was too cheap to miss. Sigh.

At about 5ish we all got washed and dressed up and headed to the night ceremony. It was held at this civil hall or something near Danka Bay. It was a nice simple gathering. I tell you, one thing about Sikhs, when they have a party, its all about the booze. For that night alone there were about 8 barrels of Tiger plus god only knows how many bottles of whiskey. From Chivas to Dimples. Dev told me that they had stacks of it in Remy's 'future' father in law's car. OMG. And these people can drink. There were only about 150 ppl, out of which maybe 50 odd men. From that I would say about 70% were drinking. One after another. Cheering and gulping. It was like a booze orgy. We just couldn't take the onslaught. Felt like amateurs man. I mean Dev, Jam, Vick and myself are pretty good drinkers, but somehow, compared to these folks. Sheesh. We were like high skool kids sneaking out a can of beer for kicks. Sadly we had to sneak out of this one as well. Real early too. By about 9ish we were outta there. We just couldn't take the pressure. We reached out hotel about 20 minutes later and retired to our rooms. Think Dev and Vick knocked out cold while our room (which had 4 bachelors) were playing around in the room. Think the room finally got quiet about midnight.

On Sunday we woke up about 9ish for breakfast. Then got cleaned and packed and checked out. We got ourselves some chocolates and ciggies for the smokers (stashed them in the seat tray to avoid the customs) and rolled out. We manage to get out without any problems. Think Dev even managed to smuggle out a bottle of whiskey. I didn't want to take the risk. It would've cost more if we got caught plus I think I had enuff of liquor after the last 2 nights. Before we headed back to Pee Jay we stopped over at Danka Bay. A so so place to hangout with multiple food cafes by the bay. Food wasn't much to shout about but it did its job. We filled our tummies and got on our way. Now the drive back was pretty interesting. We managed to reach PJ from Johor in about 3 hours. And this is with stopping at a rest stop and having some Baskin Robbins ice cream (which was real yummy!). There were tonnes of cars flying down and we just tailed em. Had fun bullying some arseholes who just didn't know how to drive. Think they own a SUV or Beemer they can do whatever they want. We showed em, or at least irritated the hell outta em. LOL.

All and all it was a great road trip. Remy and his friends were great hosts and the supply of booze was more than we could bargain for. Good food (and drinks!), good friends and a good time. Can't wait till the next time. Hmmm Remy, whens the wedding? ;)

good ole' chivas...

After about an hour or so reaching home we managed to get something going. We couldn't allow the night to end just like that right. Manage to gather a few mates to chill at my places and enjoy a bottle of Chivas. Liquid gold I tell ya! About 10 of us gathered outside my crib at the 'Pondok' over some drinks and chatter. Jam arrived about 2 hours later (as usual, always late, tonnes of excuses as well) with his guitar and the jamming session started.

Dev, Vick, Jam and Roofus were taking turns singing and free styling. It was fun. A nice slow night with friends. We ended it around 4am with a drive to KL to have the best sup kambing around. Its located at the entrance of Kampung Baru. One day I might blog more about it, maybe take some pics as well. By the time I reached home it was already about 5am plus. Exhausted as ever due to the Futsal game and being up all day, I hit my bed like a sack of potatoes. Woke up only about 1pm to my dad banging at my door. Had promised them to do some grocery shopping.

Got to take my shower now, going to treat my parents to a meal at Souled Out for their 31st wedding anniversary. Can't believe it. They manage to be together for 31 freaking years even with all the shouting and arguing every other day. LOL. Guess thats what marriage is about huh. Hope they have another 20 odd years together. Toodles.

espn party...

What an interesting night I had yesterday. The day started off with a trip to the wet market to get our monthly supply of mutton. After that I just bummed at home playing with my niece, reading the dailies and watching the telly. At around 7pm calls were made. We had planned to catch the ESPN EPL Party in Souled Out and we had to get our butts there early before the crowd gets in. This was something we couldn't miss mainly because there was an important game at midnite. Yup you guessed it, Manchester United vs. Liverpool!

After all the calls were made, we managed to reach Souled Out at 8pm which was pretty early since the party only starts at 845pm. Sadly when we got there the place was fully booked. No one was actually there to fill the seats but all tables were booked. We were annoyed as we didn't think reservations were allowed considering the invitation fliers stated gates were to open at 845pm. Anyways we chilled at the bar in hopes of getting a table. Shortly after we ordered our drinks, a table came up free. Best part it was right next to the projector. Which means we had a perfect view of the screen. Woo Hoo! No complaints there. After about 30 minutes or so more people started filling the seats. Before we knew it Souled Out was packed with MU and Liverpool jerseys. Our luck we sat right next to a table of the Liverpool FC Fan Club and boy were they noisy. What made things worse was that the fucked up host (a dumbass comedian called Sheikh Haikal) was also a Liverpool fan and I felt his performance was rather biased. They need to get someone more open so that the fans can go at it. Not the damn host! Anyhoo the night dragged on with the first game between Chelsea and Charlton. Since both MU and Liverpool wanted to reach the top of the league, obviously we were all cheering for the same team, Charlton! The game ended in a draw which ended Chelsea's winning run. Great news for both teams who were about to kick off.

At midnite the game kicked off and everyone were glued to the screen. The game was pretty hot. Liverpool seemed to shine more in the 1st half and it was pretty evident that MU were missing their ailing midfielders (Smith, Ronaldo & Scholes) badly. Surprisingly we came back strong in the 2nd half. Much better chances and more possession. The game looked like it was destined for a draw when a minute into injury time Rio Ferdinand headed a wonderful ball from Giggs. You should have been in Souled Out. On one side all the MU fans were screaming their heads off (I even had beer spilled down my pants from Rio's goal. LOL. Someone hit our table and knocked my beer mug over) and on the other side the Liverpool fans were dead silent. A big contrast from before the goal when they had the host on their side and they were shouting away. You could practically hear a pin drop if needed. LOL. It was a great SLAP in the face. A couple of minutes went by and the final whistle was blown. Woo Hoo, the Red Devils did it again! It was a thrilling game.

After everything cooled down, we settled our tab and headed to a nearby mamak for some Roti Bakar and tea. Spent about 30 odd minutes and headed home. Pretty tiring and my throat was sore from all the screaming plus the sore throat I was still recovering from. Reached home around 330am and after washing up I hit the sack. Been awhile since I had this much fun watching a game. Hopefully ESPN will have more of these and this time I'll make sure I make reservations! =)

most fun i had in awhile...

Wow what a long day yesterday was but it was one with the most fun I've had in days. Started off around 12ish with a lunch buffet for the project I'm working under. We were celebrating our 2nd anniversary and decided on Crown Princess Hotel for their Hi Tea Extravaganza. Supposedly the longest buffet line in Malaysia (running between 2 restaurants). The food there was not bad especially for the price. Lots of good variety and tasty as well. The interesting thing was, my favourite there was Roti Bakar (toast with Kaya). I know it can be found in our local mamaks but this was cooked under charcoal and the Kaya was really tasty. Plus the bread their using is not the common type bought off the shelves. Yummy! Wish I could have some now...

Anyhoo after lunch we headed to Hard Rock Cafe for some drinks. Thought it would be relatively cheap since its Happy Hour but sadly their Happy Hour prices are actually normal prices anywhere else. Since we were already there we just sat through until Happy Hour ended at 6pm. Before we knew it we had finished off about 10 jugs. Once Happy Hour ended we were outta there and decided to head to Bangsar to continue our party. We ended up in Absolute, which I have to say is a sad joint. One of our colleagues said he had a contact there so we decided why not. The place was okie but I wouldn't really pay cover charge to get in. Plus there wasn't really any contact! Anyways time just flew when we were there. The crowd was so so. Not that many cute ladies. We ended the party around 2am when the club closed. Even skipped dinner.
All we shared was a plate of chilli fried ikan bilis and sausages. We polished off about 3 bottles of JD and a jug of Long Island Tea (between 5 of us). Phew. Luckily we were all still stable. No one puked and no unwanted scenes. Finally ended up on my bed around 4am. Knocked out till about 2pm today.

Been awhile since I drank that much. And to imagine I had a resolution to not drink so much. LOL. Hellave start to the new year huh. Surpringly when I got up this afternoon, did not have a hangover. Stomach felt fine as well. Usually my stomach would be all screwed. Guess I should count my lucky stars. I gotta admit it was a great night. Been awhile since I've been out from lunch time all the way past midnight to the next morning. I think I'm feeling the age la. Can't be doing this often. Maybe once in a blue moon.

Anyways I gotta head out now to K2OC's AGM. Would be my last day as a committee member. Hope it'll be a good turnout. Toodles.

*burp*

Waddup y'all?! I'm back (to only disappear again that is). Last weekend I had a fabulous time and I just wanted to share with the handful of you that actually read my blog. LOL. A group of us just popped into my car and we headed out to Malacca. The only other car was our tour guide's, Dev who actually is from Malacca. This time we were being economic so we decided to crash in Dev's home. No we did not force ourselves in, he actually invited.

We left PJ around noon although we wanted to leave at 10am. You know la how great Malaysian timing is. Anyhoo we reached Malacca around 2ish and went straight to Dev's home. We were greeted by his lovely mum who ushered us in. We dropped our bags and what not in our room and zoomed straight out to have some chicken rice balls for lunch. Boy was dem' balls good. Now now get your mind outta gutter please. We ate at this place called Famosa I think which is located along Jonker's Street. After the scrumptious lunch we headed to Dev's church. A very beautiful place I must say. Its not like the usual churches where there are small rooms and corners hidden. This was one big spacious hall. Timing was perfect as well because Dev and the others were practising for mass the next morning. We got a short preview of Dev on the piano and his mom singing. Simply amazing. It was like watching the duet between Nat King Cole and his daughter performing 'Unforgettable' live. While Dev continued practising, we headed out to get some local ice cream. You know the ones I'm talking about. Only cost RM1 for 2 mouth watering scoops of any flavour on a wafer cone. Its hard to find those in Klang Valley nowadays so we were not going to miss the chance. Its sold in most touristy areas of Malacca. *Droool* I can still taste the chocolate and sweetcorn mix I had.

Around 5ish we decided to head back to Dev's house. On the way we made a detour to this place called Gula Melaka Cafe. There we had some Sago Gula Melaka with Santan followed by a bowl of slurpy Cendol. Damn I've never had that GOOD a gula melaka before. Around klang valley we can get the same desserts but they always use brown sugar instead of Gula Melaka. The taste just isn't the same. The gula melaka at the cafe was simply intoxicating. One can get high we just a small teaspoons full. After the ever so sweet desserts we headed back to Dev's house. There we crashed on our beds and rested for a bit. We took turns taking our showers and getting ready for a night out. By the time we were done it was already 8pm. We got into one car and headed to Umbai for dinner.

Umbai is about 20 minutes or so from Malacca town and is very popular among locals and tourist for their fresh grilled seafood. Its actually a jetty with many malay owned stalls around selling the same exact thing. The 5 of us got about 6 squids, a big Siakap fish and some Sting Ray. We told the cook to grill them all in different flavours. We settled for breaded squid with sweet chilly sauce, deep fried fish with 3 flavour sauce and grilled stingray with chilli rub. The food was served in about 15 minutes or so. By then we were already pigging out on Otak Otak and nasi lemak. We also had a pitcher of Ice Lemon Tea. The seafood was really good. Fresh and tasty. If not for us being tired and full from the other escapades, we would have had more. All that we ate only cost us RM60. Which if you ask anyone, is DIRT CHEAP! After dinner we drove back to Malacca town to head to Jonker's Street.

At night on weekends they close Jonker's Street and allow stalls to be set up. Locals and tourist would roam around munching on various goodies sold or buying interesting ornaments or antiques. They even sell pets. Can you beat that. Anyways the night market wasn't really our goal. There is this nice pub in the middle called Ringo and we wanted to end the night there. We managed to get a nice table on the street in the middle between Ringo Pub and this other pub called The Geographer. These 2 pubs have an agreement that each take 30 minute sets to play their respective live music. Very interesting compromise. Sadly the singer in The Geographer sucked and spoilt so many of my favourite oldies. The idiot sounded like he was in some karoake session. Luckily we had Ringo (who obviously is the owner of Ringo Pub *duh*) who is great as a guitarist and singer. He really liven up things that night. Between the 5 of us we managed to polish off about 5 buckets of beer and share lots of laughter and good music. The night ended around 2am. From there we adjourned to this place near Dev's house called Habeeb Sultan . Its a typical Indian Muslim restaurant that you can find all over Malaysia. The only thing that makes this place special is the Maggi Goreng (fried instant noodles). I have never had such good maggi goreng before. Its not overly spicy or lacking in taste. The noodles were just right and the taste magical. If only they had something like that in Klang Valley. It'll definately be my after beers hangout.

We only managed to retire around 4am. Or at least that is what I think the time was. Next thing I knew it was around noon Sunday and we were being told to wake up for lunch. Dev's mom was kind enough to prepare us a yummy lunch. We had chicken curry, mutton paraetal, rasam, beans, appalam and rice. I could only manage one round but the others were gobbling everything up. After lunch we crashed in the TV room. Too full and tired to go anywhere. An hour or so of bumming around we couldn't sit still anymore. We got up and headed to the beach. Sadly its not that much of a beach so we just ended up eating ice cream and staring at the ocean. After finishing up our ice cream we headed to the church again. There we caught this amazing kid play the drums while a young girl sing. Its amazing the talents some people have. If only I had a musical side, besides making weird or rude noises that is. At about 5ish we were back in Dev's house and his mom was busy making tea. We had cucur udang and biscuits all laid out. When we were done with tea we were too full or tired to think of the next move. We bummed for a couple of hours before deciding that it was time to head back to PJ. But not before we had some dinner of course. Dev took us to this place which is by the sea called Sampan Cafe. A very romantic place. Its this old bungalow which they did up to have indoor seating and also the kitchen and what not. The best part was outside overlooking the sea where there were tables set up all over. Its a big piece of land housing almost 20 odd tables. Sadly it wasn't windy when we went there so we couldn't enjoy the full experience. The food there was so so and the service was horrible. I wouldn't say it was the best experience all weekend. Thank god for the tasty fruit juices. By the time we were done it was already 10pm. Said our goodbyes to Dev and we headed home. Reached around midnight due to heavy traffic. Sent my mates home, had a shower and knocked out. Woke up around noon the next day. Can't wait for the next trip!

I know I know its a freaking long post. But you do not want me to leave out anything right? Anyways I'm tired from typing all this out. You guys have a good night kay. Toodles.

another good weekend...

Ahh it must be a good run. Had another great weekend. Started off as usual with a good game of Futsal. At least now I can breathe through the full 1 hour instead of choking every 10 mins. I see that as oen hellave improvement. After that headed to Bandar Utama to check out the so called 'Branded Warehouse Sale'. Sadly its more like a freaking pasar malam! All the clothing were either pasar malam grade or winter crap dumped from US or Europe. Who in the right mind would buy thick hooded sweaters, long sleeve tees or jackets in Malaysia? Its freaking 30 degrees Celcius (on average) outside! Even if we were lucky, the lowest would be around 25 degrees Celcius and that itself is still hot. I guess its more important to look 'cool' than to feel comfortable.

At night we headed out to Souled Out for dinner and drinks. It was a packed nite as the 'great' Phua Chu Kang (PCK) was visiting. Took us about an hour before we got our damn table. PCK came around 10ish and performed for about an hour. It was okie I guess and since it was free, I can't really complain. His humour has become rather stale though. As usual the draft Guiness was smooth and creamy and it made me a happy camper. Around 1am we headed out to Finnegans in Bangsar to continue our session. Saw some rather fine ladies although they were all over some crappy kwai lows. Damn gold diggers. After closing we ended at Lotus to wind down.

Sunday as always was quiet and slooooooooooow. Woke up around noon and read the dailies. After that camped in front of the telly till dinner. For dinner had some shark curry and mushrooms with rice. Then headed out to a nearby mamak to hang with my high skool mates. Just got back and its time to hit the sack. Yaaaawn. Why can't we have an extra day for weekends? There just isn't enuff time.

weekend...

This weekend was pretty good I guess. Had a good game of Futsal in the afternoon and soon after that hit TGIF for some drinks. Had about 6 jugs with my mates before heading home for a nap. Woke up around 9pm, had a quick bite and headed out to Souled Out for more drinks. Retired around 3am at Medan Hartamas with some mixed grill. I must say it was pretty good shieet. Cooked just right and the portions just nice after a long day. Plus the price wasn't all that bad. Sunday was more of a lazing about day. The weather outside (constant drizzle) was perfect for it. The house was cool and breezy instead of the usual freaking heat and sweat. With the free time I managed to finish a book (Skipping Christmas by John Grisham) and a movie (Ladder 49). Had a nice home cooked meal as well. Capped the nite off with some Watermelon Specials in Murni (SS2) with some buddies. *Yaawn* Think I'll hit the sack now. If only tommorrow was a Public Holiday.
